Rooms & Housekeeping

What is our star rating and quality of accommodation and service?

We are a 3.5 star property and being a condominium (Strata-unit) complex, even rooms of the same configuration have slight differences in layout, style and furnishings. We do not have room service or porters or car parking attendants and our reception is not open 24 hours per day. Although all rooms have ceiling fans, only the Studios have air-conditioning.

What are the room types?

We have 3 main room types – Hotel Rooms, Studios & 1 Bedroom Apartments.

In our 1 bedroom units the bedroom is separate to the open kitchen/lounge/dining area and a separate bathroom – they have a stove, cooktop, refrigerator and cooking, dining and glassware.

Our studio units are open plan with a kitchenette and a lounge/dining/bedroom area only as well as a separate bathroom – they have a refrigerator and cooktop and basic cooking, dining and glassware.

Our hotel rooms have a bed/lounge area and a separate bathroom – there is a microwave, but no cooking facilities, utensils or dining ware, however glassware is provided.

There are no dishwashers or washing machines and dryers in any room, but there is a coin operated guest laundry on site.

What is the difference between Pool View and Beachfront?

Beachfront rooms face direct onto the beach, and have unrestricted views of Surfers Paradise beach, the sunrise and the Pacific Ocean, and command a premium price.

Pool View rooms have unrestricted wide-angle views of the beach and the pool and compared to many buildings in Surfers Paradise the views from these rooms would be considered superior.

City View rooms have a narrow angle view of the beach, but have wide views of the city and hills to the west.

Do any rooms have balconies?

None of our rooms have a balcony. They do have what is referred to as a “Juliette Balcony”, where the large sliding doors open but have a balustrade directly in front.

What do I need to bring?

All beds are made and have sheets and blankets and pillows. Bath towels and toilet rolls are provided. Basic toiletries (Soap, Shampoo) and a starter-pack of tea, coffee, sugar and milk is provided upon arrival, but not replenished during your stay.

Beach towels may be hired for $3.00 during your stay.

We do not provide complimentary bottled water, but it is safe to drink tap water. Toilet rolls will be replenished upon request.

Is the room serviced daily or at any time during my stay ?

Rooms are NOT serviced daily, as our Room Tariffs reflect guests feedback that they would prefer to pay a lesser amount for a non-serviced option. Daily/extra service can be arranged at short notice for reasonable additional charge.

Rooms will be serviced mid-stay for stays that are longer than 8 days. Extra or fresh towels are available during your stay for a fee of $3 per towel.

What is the bedding configuration? Can I have two single beds? Can I have an extra bed?

All of our rooms have a queen size bed. If you do not want to share the bed or if you require additional bedding, this must be advised and approved at the time you make the reservation.

Additional charges apply:

  • Rollway – $30.00 per stay
  • Sofa bed – $45.00 per stay

All reservations must specify clearly the correct number of occupants (persons) who will be staying in the room. Sofa beds and extra bedding and child cots must be requested at time of booking, and are subject to availability. We cannot guarantee extra bedding will be available at time of arrival if not pre-booked.

All of our rooms have a queen size bed. If you do not want to share the bed or you require a different bedding configuration, please advise and we will do our utmost to meet your request, but we cannot guarantee.

In most rooms, if you do not wish to share the Queen Bed, we can provide a sofa bed/rollaway at an additional one-off charge of $30. All linen for the extra bed, including towels are included in the extra charge.

There is no additional charge for children under the age of 3 who share the existing bedding.

Where the booking is for 3 or 4 persons, the extra charge is $30 per day per Adult and $20 per day per child, which includes the cost of one rollaway or sofa bed.

Due to health regulations, all our sofa beds are locked and are only unlocked and made up if booked.

How much for extra Adults or Children? How much for a Cot/Crib?

All published Room Rates are for 1-2 persons.

Extra Person (per night):

  • Adult $30
  • Child $20
  • (Includes rollaway bed)

There is no additional charge for children under 5 sharing existing bedding.

Baby Cot – $30 per stay – no ongoing charges except for any linen change.

There is a maximum of 1 Rollaway and 1 Crib/Cot per Room.

All additional charges for “Bedding and Housekeeping Services” are payable direct to the property at Check-in or when requested.

Do you provide breakfast?

We do not provide breakfast but there are 3 cafes/restaurants located on, or adjacent to the property that provide good value and quality breakfasts.

Can I smoke in the room?

All our units are non-smoking. Balcony smoking is not permitted. The Pool and BBQ area areas are also non-smoking. A smoking area is available at the hotel portico entrance and on the external area of the podium level.

Is there a bath in the room?

Only a few of our rooms have a bath (with shower over) and you need to request this at the time of booking. Please note that the request cannot be guaranteed due to limited number of units with baths.

Do you provide complimentary water, tea and coffee in the rooms?

A “starter-pack” of tea, coffee, sugar and milk is provided. You need to purchase additional supplies at the supermarket or from reception.

We do not supply complimentary bottled water as the tap water is of excellent health standard. We do provide additional toilet rolls at no cost.

What else should I know?

Only our Studio Ocean View rooms have air conditioning, and none have washing machines, dryers or dishwashers. All Rooms have ceiling fans, refrigerators and microwaves.

The 1-Bedroom and Studio Units have cooking facilities. The Hotel Rooms have no cooking facilities (or toaster) or plates/cutlery, but have an electric jug for making tea/coffee.

There is a coin-operated laundromat on site with washing machines and dryers which is open 0700 – 2130 hrs daily. Washing powder may be purchased from reception.

Bookings & Conditions

Make a booking

You can make a booking by phone (+61 7 5538 1022) or by email () or through our website (www.chateaubeachside.com.au). Before you make a booking, please check out our different room types and the aspects of each on our website. If you are unsure, we urge you to contact us by phone, especially if you have a special request.

When you make a booking you will need to pay for the booking in full. Once a booking is made, it cannot be cancelled.

If you have made the reservation via our website and have made a mistake, please phone us immediately to discuss, or if the time is outside our reception hours, email us at the above email address and advise of the mistake.

If the booking is for a date at least 3 days in the future we will assist you to rectify the mistake but charges may incur.

Can I cancel my booking?

Once bookings are made, whether guests are in-house or it is for a future booking, there is a “no refund” policy for cancellations therefore refunds are not available. We recommend you only make your reservation when you are certain of your arrival date, and the Room type, and that you consider purchasing a “travel Insurance” policy to cover for unforeseen events.

Can I reserve a booking and pay at arrival?

No. A Booking is not confirmed unless the total amount required to be paid has been received by us. We will send you a confirmation email once we have received payment.

Special Requests?

You may request additional services or a specific room, but all requests are subject to availability and no request is guaranteed. Some requests may incur an additional charge. We urge you to phone or email before making a reservation to confirm if your request will incur an additional charge, or is available. We will endeavour to meet all special requests for persons with disabilities or infirmed, but it is best to make these bookings by phone where such requests can be guaranteed at time of booking.

Can I have an extra guest? Do I have to pay for an extra guest?

All guests staying in guest rooms must be registered with reception. Extra guests will be charged $30 per night (children are $20 per night).

Reception should be advised prior to arrival if extra guests will be staying as extra bedding or towels cannot be provided outside of reception hours.

What else should I know before making a booking?

The Chateau Beachside is a mixed-use building which includes residents and permanent tenants, and has a strict “No Party” and “No Anti-Social Behaviour” policies which are strictly enforced for the benefit and peaceful enjoyment of all occupants. As such, we will refuse certain bookings for the purpose of group events or parties.

Parties and excessive noise are not tolerated within the property or any room.

Only Guests registered with reception are permitted in Rooms after 10pm.

Check In & Departure

Reception hours

Hotel Reception is open from 7.30am till 8pm from Sunday till Thursday and from 7.30am till 9.00pm on Friday and Saturday.

Security deposit

All guests must pay a $200 security deposit for each room occupied at time of check-in (or prior to arrival if requested). The security deposit can be paid in cash or by credit card pre-authorisation. Debit Cards cannot be used.

We reserve the right to refuse guest registration without refund of any accommodation paid, if the security deposit cannot be paid as required.

The security deposit will be used to cover loss or damage or security breaches or for extra room cleaning. Credit card pre-authorisations may take up to 10 business days until the hold is released by your bank, and you will be reminded of this fact at check-in if you pay your security deposit by credit card.

We require all rooms to be left in a tidy state at checkout and additional cleaning chargers will be applied if rooms are left in a messy and untidy state.

Any damage or loss greater than the security deposit will be reported to police and recovery action will be commenced.

Over 99% of guests receive their security deposits back in full.

Please note that during the annual schoolies period, we require a minimum $500.00 security deposit for all rooms.

When is the security deposit returned?

Cash deposits will be refunded in cash at checkout, less any payments or deductions for outstanding services or charges. Pre-authorisations are a “hold” against available funds, and the amount is not taken from your account, but it may take up to 10 business days until the hold is released by your bank. If we need to charge any billing against your pre-authorisation you will be informed.

Check-In Time. Can I have an early check-in?

Check-in time is at 2pm. As rooms need to be cleaned after guest departure, rooms cannot be guaranteed until this time. If you arrive before 2pm, you may complete Guest Registration and we will text you when your room is ready. Some days we can arrange an early check-in by rearranging the cleaning schedule or allocation of another room, but an administration fee will apply. If you arrive early, you are welcome to store your luggage and use the carpark and hotel facilities at no additional charge.

Check-Out Time. Can I have a late check-out?

Check-out time is 10.00am. All Late Check-out requests must be pre-arranged and approved with reception, as they are based on availability. There is a fee of $10.00 per hour (or part thereof) after 10am to a maximum of 12 midday.

What if I am arriving late and outside of reception hours?

If you are arriving outside of reception hours you must pre-pay the Security Deposit via a valid Credit card, and arrange for a late checkin.

We have an after-hours check-in service which will provide you with the information for key collection.

Guest registration

Guests must be over 18 years of age to register at check-in and sign the Guest Registration Form. Special arrangements may be made, but they must be approved by us 48 hours before guest arrival, otherwise we may refuse registration without any refund.

All guests who are staying in the room must be listed on the Guest Registration Form.

What If I want to change rooms after I arrive?

Once you have checked-in and registered, any request to change rooms will be subject to availability and price-adjustment and a room change may incur a cleaning fee.

Guest Services

Mandarin and other languages

We have personnel who can communicate in Mandarin, Hindi and Punjabi.

Do you have free wi-fi?

All rooms have complimentary WiFi which is high speed, in-room and unlimited.

Is there a car park on site? Is there a charge? What is the clearance?

We have an on-site car park. There is no charge for parking but all vehicles must display a valid label which is provide at check-in for the duration of your stay, otherwise tow-away may occur. Only one car per room is allowed to park and no car park for visitors. The basement car park clearance is 1.9 metres, while the top car park is more than 3 metres. All vehicles parked on the property are parked at owner’s risk and discretion and no liability attaches to the manager or building owners for any loss or damage.

Can I leave the car in the carpark after check out?

You may leave your car in our car park until 1200hrs, but the vehicle must display a valid car park label.

Breakfast

We do not provide breakfast but there are 3 cafes/restaurants located on, or adjacent to the property that provide good value and quality breakfasts.

ATM

We have an on-site ATM machine which is available for use 24 hours per day.

How do I purchase Tickets for Theme Parks, Tours, Shows, Shuttles and Other Activities?

Our reception personnel will gladly make theme-park, tours, shuttle bus and other entertainment bookings for you during reception hours, with no additional commission or service fees. Airport Transfers should be booked at least 24 hours in advance to guarantee a seat.

Do you have Cable TV?

We do not have cable TV but most of our televisions are wide-screen Smart TV’s which allow you to cast/connect to your favourite App such as Netflix, YouTube, Foxtel etc.

Where is Chateau Beachside located?

We are in the city Centre of Surfers Paradise – the heart of Australia’s Gold Coast. We are opposite a patrolled section of Surfers Paradise Beach and 4 minutes’ walk to a large supermarket which has extended shopping hours. We are surrounded with many other shops, boutiques, banks and dining options.

Facilities

What are the pool hours?

We have a very large outdoor pool. The Pool area opens at 0730 and closes at 2130hrs.

The Pool area is non-smoking and no glass is permitted. Only hotel guests (and residents) are permitted to use the pool and BBQ area and friends or visitors of guests are not permitted. There is no lifeguard on duty at any time in the Pool Area.

Do you have a spa / hot tub / jacuzzi?

We have 3 spas / hot tubs / jacuzzis and they are heated to 36C. They are located in the pool area and are open from 0730hrs to 2130hrs.

Is there a Sauna or Steam Room?

We have a Sauna and a Steam Room. Both are located in the Pool Area and are available for use from 0730hrs to 2130hrs.

Do You have BBQ’s for Guest Use?

There are 2 Electric BBQ’s for Guest Use in the Pool Area, as well as Tables and Chairs under shade umbrellas. The BBQ use is free. No glasses and no smoking is allowed in Pool / BBQ area. The BBQ area opens at 0730hrs and closes at 2130hrs. Only Hotel Guests (and residents) are permitted to use the Pool and BBQ Area and friends or visitors of Guests are not permitted.

Swimming at Surfers Paradise Beach

Surfers Paradise Beach is one of the major Gold Coast drawcards, and its golden sands are only metres from Chateau. The beach is a surf beach and caution must be exercised when swimming. There is a lifeguard on duty in the beach section opposite Chateau every day from 0730hrs. You need to swim within the Red and Yellow flagged area when the Lifeguard is on duty. You can leave the sands and be in the hub of the action within seconds.

What Other Facilities are available for Guests?

A Games Room which has Air-hockey, Table Tennis, and other electric Games Machines. The Games Room is open from 0700hrs to 2130hrs each day.

Fitness Equipment located in an area adjacent to the Games Room. The equipment includes a rowing machine, treadmill, chest/shoulder/back press, exercise bike, and It is open from 0700hrs to 2130hrs

A Laundromat is located on podium level and has coin-operated washing machines and dryers. It is open from 0700hrs to 2130hrs. Washing powder may be purchased from reception.

A complimentary Book Library is located in the Games Room. Guests are encouraged to leave books to increase our library selection. We kindly request guests return books before departure.

Getting Around

Go-Explore Cards

We sell Go-Explore Cards at Reception. These cards permit unlimited bus and tram travel on a daily basis up to 1200 hrs of the day of purchase. This is the best and most cost-effective way to get around.

The trams operate between Pacific Fair at Broadbeach and the Gold Coast Hospital; they pass through the centre of Surfers Paradise and Southport. Buses travel between Dreamworld (north) and Gold Coast Airport/Coolangatta (South).

How can I get from the Gold Coast Airport to the Chateau Beachside?

There is a shuttle bus service from the airport to the hotel (and vice versa). We advise all Guests to purchase shuttle-bus tickets direct from the shuttle-bus service at the airport, as the various companies do not allow a change of booking if your flight is delayed or cancelled. You can book and pay for your direct shuttle service at the airport. We can book your return shuttle to the airport but advise that you book at least 24 hours in advance to guarantee a seat. Taxis are also readily available at the airport.

How can I get from the Brisbane Airport to the Chateau Beachside?

There is a direct shuttle service from the Brisbane airport (Domestic or International) to the hotel. We advise all guests to purchase shuttle-bus tickets direct from the shuttle service at the airport as you are unable to change your booking if your flight is delayed or cancelled. You can book and pay at the shuttle service at the airport. There is also public transport available via the Airtrain Service from both Domestic and International Airports . This train service operates direct to Nerang Train Station (Gold Coast) with no change of train required. You will need to get the 740 bus to Surfers Paradise from Nerang Station. Prices and train timetables are available at www.translink.com.au. You do not need to book your train or bus ticket in advance.

Taxis

Taxis are readily available within all Gold Coast areas. Reception will phone and order a taxi for you at any time during reception hours.

Car and Motorbike Hire

The major Car Rental Operators have rental offices and on-site vehicles located less than 5 minute walk from the hotel. The cars can be collected and dropped-off at these locations. There are several electric motor-bike hire offices located within 5 minute walk of the hotel. Our reception personnel will provide location details.

Bicycle hire

There are several Bicycle-Hire operators located within a few minutes walk of the hotel. Our reception personnel will provide location details.

Getting To The Theme Parks

Movie World, Wet n Wild

Traveling to Movie World and Wet’ n Wild can be done by bus. The bus departs from the Vibe Hotel, which is just at walking distance from our resort. The bus number is TX2. Make sure you go before 11.30, because the busses stop driving after that time. Approximate travel time is 30 minutes.

A Go-Explore Card can be bought at the reception. With this card you can travel unlimited during the whole day. The Go- Explore Card is $10 for adults and $5 for children. For more information visit www.translink.com.au

Dreamworld

Traveling to Dreamworld can be done by bus. The bus departs from the Vibe Hotel, which is just at walking distance from our resort. The bus number is TX3. Make sure you go before 11.30, because the busses stop driving after that time. Approximate travel time is 45 minutes.

The best way to go to SeaWorld is by bus. The bus departs from the Vibe Hotel, which is just at walking distance from our resort. The bus number is 705. The approximate travel time is 15 minutes. Getting To Pacific Fair, Broadbeach & Gold Coast Convention Centre

The best way to go to Pacific Fair, Broadbeach & Gold Coast Convention Centre is per tram. The tram departs from Cavil Avenue, which is only a 5 minute walk from the resort. To go to Broadbeach & Gold Coast Convention Centre, you have to leave the tram at the Broadbeach North Station. For Pacific Fair, you have to leave the tram at Broadbeach South. Approximate travel time is 15 minutes. A Go-Explore Card can be bought at the reception. With this card you can travel unlimited during the whole day. Getting To Australia Fair

To go to Australia Fair, you can take the tram which departs from Cypress Avenue. Cypress Avenue is only a 5 minute walk from the resort. The stop is called Southport and from here you can walk to Australia Fair. Approximate travel time is 20 minutesA Go-Explore Card can be bought at the reception. Getting To Harbour Town

There are several possibilities to travel to Harbour Town. The first option is the free shuttle bus, which can be booked at www.harbourtowngoldcoast.com.au/shuttle. If you wish to go by public transport, take the tram from Cypress Avenue to Southport and at Southport bus station you have to take bus 704. Another way is to take the tram from Cypress Avenue to Griffith University and take bus 719 from there. Approximate travel time is 25 minutes. A Go-Explore Card can be bought at the reception. Getting To Dracula’s and Casino

To go to Dracula’s or the Casino (same stop as pacific Fair), take the tram from Cavil Avenue to Broadbeach South. Approximate travel time is 15 minutes. A Go-Explore Card can be bought at the reception. With this card you can travel unlimited during the whole day. The Go- Explore Card is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Getting To Outback Spectacular

Traveling to Outback Spectacular can be best done by booking a taxi or booking a Con-x-ion transfer. Our reception personnel will assist you to book the taxi or transfer for you.

Getting To Gold Coast Airport

Shuttle: If you want to travel by Shuttle, you should book your ticket at least 24 hours in advance to ensure a seat is available. We will make any Shuttle reservations for you. You need to advise us of the Airline, the Flight Number and the day and time of Departure. The travel time is 45 minutes and they will advise the Hotel pick-up time.

Public Transport: Another option is to go with public transport. When travelling to Gold Coast Airport, take the tram from Cavill Avenue Stop to Broadbeach South (end of tram line) and take bus 777 to the airport. A Go-Explore Card can be bought at the reception. With this card you can travel unlimited during the whole day. The Go- Explore Card is $10 for adults and $5 for children. For more information, visit www.translink.com.au.

Getting To Brisbane Airport

Shuttle: If you want to travel by Shuttle, you should book your ticket at least 24 hours in advance to ensure a seat is available. We will make any Shuttle reservations for you. You need to advise us of the Airline, the Flight Number and the day and time of Departure. The travel time is approximately 90 minutes and they will advise the Hotel pick-up time.

Public Transport: Another option is to go with public transport. When traveling to Brisbane Airport, take bus 740 from Cypress Avenue to Nerang Station and take the train from there direct to Brisbane Airport (either Domestic or International Terminals). How can I book tickets for theme park/activity/tour?

We will gladly book your ticket for any attraction, tour, adventure, transfer or entertainment – and we will help you plan your stay so you can get the most from your Gold Coast stay. We can book your Shuttle Service from our hotel on your departure. Please allow 24 hours’ notice for airport transfer.

Is it safe to swim at the beach?
